Not all algorithmic stabilization mechanisms are the same. We have all heard different takes on what happened to Luna and the fall of UST but this one is different. In this short, non-comprehensive post, Tim Swanson of Clearmatics evaluates the rise and rapid fall of Luna and UST through the lens of stablecoin taxonomy.

Most analysis on this topic lacks the important nuances separating custodial and non-custodial “stablecoins” as well as those that depend on exogenous collateral versus endogenous collateral.
