1/ Over the past few months, @sophfuji and I have spent time formulating a thesis around the future of web3 messaging — bringing middleware to the frontend of the consumer experience. We're excited to share our initial thinking:

tcg.mirror.xyzTalking to the ProtocolCrypto messaging lives on Telegram and Discord, but the search for a solution needing just a wallet address has spurred the beginnings of 50+ companies.

Web3 messaging will be the next billion dollar protocol… but not the type of skeuomorphic peer-to-peer chat you’re thinking. What if it’s protocols talking to users, users talking to protocols, and all on-chain interactions showing up in one singular feed of messages? That’s what Gaby Goldberg from TCG Crypto thinks.

“None of these features [verification, social graphs, etc] have made on-chain messaging competitive with Telegram or Signal, because convenience (almost) always wins over quality. The reason these messaging protocols will be more convenient is they will unlock a whole new recipient of the message: the protocol itself.”

Are wallets the solution? With an integrated communication layer, wallets become inboxes, and the inbox becomes the nexus of identity. If messaging is redefined as the means, then we really don't know what the end might be. Check out full piece here.
